Energy Standard training camp in March 2017
From 6 to 25 March in Lignano (Italy) a spring training camp was held for the whole Energy Standard Team, including elite and main squads.
The three-week camp gathered more than 40 athletes, 13 of whom were from the elite squad. It is noteworthy that the camp was attended by Chad Le Clos – the London 2012 Olympics Champion and two-time silver medalist at Rio 2016.
For the younger generation of our Club it was an invaluable experience to swim side by side with a world swimming superstar and their role model. Chad Le Clos shared his impressions of the camp: "I'm extremely excited to have such an opportunity to join at this training camp with the whole team of the Energy Standard Club, I am very pleased with the positive atmosphere within the team and with excellent conditions that I have here!"
The beautiful spring weather allowed the athletes to train in the open with professional strength and conditioning coaches: Marco Kosso, Jan Komnatniy and Daria Stratilatova.
Furthermore, French strength and conditioning coach Patrick L'Ofatalier of "Cercle des Nagesurs de Marseille" - an elite Marseille swimming club headed by coach Romain Barnier – arrived at the camp to teach a couple of clinics to our coaches and athletes.
During the camp the team’s Doctor presented an anti-doping lecture to the entire team, which touch upon the most important aspects in this area: fighting against doping, instructions to the ADAMS system, the list of prohibited substances and the internal Anti-Doping Club policy.
By tradition the whole team went on a sightseeing trip to our much-loved Venice! The group strolled down the narrow streets of the Italian island, visited the exhibition of the 15th-century painter Hieronymus Bosch and had a delicious meal at a family restaurant.
