ENERGY FOR SWIM 2017
On 8 - 9 of August, in Rome, was held a grand event of the year, which was turned over many regular concepts of swimming competitions.
The Club "Energy Standard" with the support of the Italian Swimming Federation (FIN) has been organised a unique sporting event - the Charity meeting «ENERGY FOR SWIM - the Champions support the Charity”, which has successfully combined a sport event, show and charity event.
The most famous swimmers of the world came to compete and support the children: Sarah Sjöström, Ryan Lochte, Federica Pellegrini, Gabriele Detti, Jennie Johansson, Ruta Meilutytė, Cameron Van Der Burgh, Fabio Scozzolli, Chad Le Clos, Ryan Murphy, Emily Seebom, Nathan Adrian, Femke Heemskerk.
Among the honoured guest at the competitions was presence: Paolo Barelli - the President of the Italian Swimming Federation and the European Swimming League, Emilis Vaitkaitis - the President of Lithuanian swimming federation, Dmytro Kachurovskiy - the President of Ukrainian swimming federation, Mike Unger - CEO of USA swimming federation, Giuseppe Mustacchio - CEO of Arena corporation, Claudio Coldebella - General Manager Pallacanestro Varese, Carlton Myers - Italian flag-bearer at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Sidney 2000, Marco Mordente, the former captain Italian Basktball National Team, Alberto Cisolla - the volleyball player, silver medallist at the Olympic Games in Athens 2004, Daniele Sano - Head of Strategic Alliance As Roma football club, Saran Sadettin - Turkish media businessman.
Swimmers were represented four different teams and each other was supported their charity foundations:
✴ The Energy Standard Team has competed for "Tabletochki"
✴ The Australian Team has supported the "Cure Brain Cancer"
✴ The USA Team has supported the "MakeSplash" foundation
✴ The Italian Team has competed for "Save the Children"
But worth to notice that not only the participants of the event were supported the charities, but also the spectators contributed for supporting the children - all the incomes of selling the tickets were also transferred to the charity funds.
ENERGY FOR SWIM event was consisted just of the final heats and the point’s system was calculated just by the teams achievements and not by individuals: each swimmer scores the points for his Team, which is later became a cash equivalent for the charities.
On the first day of Energy for Swim, everybody were surprised by a unique opening ceremony, light show, the musical program featuring by DJ Claudio Tsissone and the dancing stars of the theatre "Liberidi".
The second day of the event has amazed everybody with the "star" relay where four “non-professional” teams took part. At the first lap of relay as a part of each team has competed the former basketball player, the second and third laps were consisted of the young swimmers, and the last lap was completed by the famous former swimmers, olympic medalists, world champions and record holders: Milorad Cavic, Evgeny Korotyshkin, Andrey Serdinov and Peter Mankoc.
Sarah SJOSTROM became the FOUR-time CHAMPION of the ENERGY FOR SWIM, leaving behind all her swimming rivals:
In the 200m freestyle (1:55.51) Sarah beat the "Queen" in this distance - Federica PELLEGRINI (1:55.72).
Team ENERGY STANDARD won the women's relay 4x100m Free with almost in 1 minute privilege, where Sarah swam her lap (2nd) with an incredible fast time - 52.65.
The 50m Freestyle event is absolutely favourite Sarah’s distance, she leaded it with a time of 24.13, the second was AUSSIE famous swimmer - Kate Campbell (24.43).
Another one relay race brought Sarah SJOSTROM one more GOLD - 4х100m women’s Medley, Sarah finished her third lap (Fly) with the strongest result - 24.13.
Chad Le Clos took three GOLD medals within 2 competitive days in Rome!
The first Gold CHAD won at the challenge in the 4x100m Freestyle relay, Chad swam his 2nd lap in 48.93 seconds, and the second gold Chad won in the same distance, but already individually - 48.38, and this season this is his best time in this distance.
The third gold Chad Le CLOS brought to his team, winning his glorious distance - 100m Fly - 51.45.
Cameron VAN DER BURGH was the BEST breaststroker swimmer at this international meeting in Rome!
The 100 Breast event Cameron passed with 59.58 and split the pedestal with the Italian athlete - Fabio SCOZZOLI.
In the distance two-time longer Cameron showed the fantastic fast seconds, scoring more points to his TEAM - 26.88.
KLIMENT KOLESNIKOV amazed one more time his fans with an impeccable performance at the competitions!
In the 200m Back Kliment don’t leave any hope to win for his rivals and finished heat with a GOLD - 1:56.65.
Repeating his triumph again KOLESNIKOV wins the hundred BACK with the new WORLD JUNIOR RECORD - 53. 35!
Among the ALL members of the ENERGY STANDARD TEAM, who have contributed for the TEAMS’s VICTORY is worth to note:
Ruta MEILUTYTE, who got the two GOLDS - in the women’s 4x100m Medley relay and in the distance 50m Breast - 30.59.
Jennie JOHANSSON and Zsuzsanna JAKABOS - WINNERS in the 100m Breast (1:07.16) and 200m Fly (2:10.09) respectively.
Michelle COLEMAN won two GOLD medals in the fight for the first place in the 4x100m Free and Medley relays!
Ben PROUD became the Champion in the 50m Fly - 23.33 and in the 4x100m Free relay BEN swam his last lap with a super-result - 48.90 and ensured his Team a Victory in this relay.
Femke HEEMSKERK brought to the team THREE GOLD MEDALS! The first one is in an individual 100m Free event - 53.45 and two others GOLDS in the 4х100м Freestyle and Medley relay.
In the 400m IM Hannah MILEY touched the wall the first in the race, and beat Madisyn COX almost for a minute - 4: 38.10.
The last and most exciting program of the Energy for Swim, was the 50m Freestyle “Skin races”. According to the rules it was 3 rounds of the 50m Freestyle, one race every 4 minutes.

Final Round – Head to head
Olympic Champions Nathan Adrian and Sarah Sjostrom won the Men’s and Women’s races, respectively.
The ENERGY STANDARD TEAM has scored more than 450 points and won 8,000 euros for the charity foundation “Tabletochki". On second place is USA Team and on the third place is the Italian team.
